Abstract

With the establishment of FRONTEX in 2004, the institution, which started its operations with a small budget in the beginning, completed its corporate structure and legal regulations over time and started operating. FRONTEX, which has undertaken an important task in Europe, has started to carry out studies to ensure security at external borders and to solve the security problem of the European Union, as people from nations with different cultural and economic levels turn to Europe, and since it sees immigrants as the cause of the increase in crime rates in Europe, it has taken action against this situation. studies have begun. FRONTEX has tried to eliminate this situation both in the field and through agreements with third countries in order to prevent illegal immigrants and refugees in Europe. The organization, which states that it attaches importance to human rights in its charter, causes refugees and immigrants, especially those living in the Aegean, to face pushback practices and endanger their lives. As a result of the investigation carried out by both NGOs and international organizations of an institution that contradicts itself, it is seen that refugees were subjected to inhumane treatment and FRONTEX abused its intervention authority and caused deaths. During the period when FRONTEX carried out these activities, human rights violations and illegal sanctions imposed by Greece on immigrants were also revealed in the operations carried out by FRONTEX.
